Cardiovascular status and metabolic syndrome among young women with polycystic ovarian syndrome in a rural area in Egypt

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the cardiovascular status and risk factors among active non smoker young PCOS women, in a rural community in Egypt, with or without features of MS.
Materials & Methods: A case control study comprised of 312 PCOS women who were

Conclusion: Many cardiovascular risks are frequent and evidence of premature atherosclerosis is existent among young women with PCOS, being even more exaggerated if
there is associated MS. Early intervention to ameliorate cardiovascular risks for these
cases is an important health care demand.
